Let Them Debate!
There are more than a few people that think Trump skipping this debate is a mistake.
Yes, he would come under heavy fire, but at least he would be showing up.
I think he will take more flack for not going and not being able to respond to the attacks levied against him.
He will surely be posting on Truth Social, but that is not the same as being center stage and returning fire.
Regardless, Trump took to Truth Social, stating, “Let them debate so I can see who I MIGHT consider for Vice President!”
Honestly, most of the candidates in the race right now are in it to stop Trump, so this is not exactly an audition.
As it stands now, the only candidates I think would even consider a VP spot would be Tim Scott and Nikki Haley, and I am not even really sure about Scott.
As far as DeSantis is concerned, that bridge has been burned, and I don’t see DeSantis dropping out.
He knows it is still early and a lot of these under three percent candidates will be long gone by the time the primary voting takes place.
If DeSantis gets Trump head-to-head, it is a different story.
Trump would likely still be leading, but that margin would probably be under 10 percent, so don’t expect anyone to fold to Trump just yet.
