The ides of March have come late for Governor Gretchen Whitmer, but they are not likely to disappoint, as new evidence comes to light, criminal charges loom in the future of Michigan’s embattled Democrat dictat -er Governor. And Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido is stepping up behind her.
New Macomb County Prosecutor and former State Senator Peter Lucido told local affiliate WXYZ ABC7 that he is asking Michiganders to go back through their records and their families nursing homes and report any wrongful deaths related to COVID19 to the police. He’s planning to meet with the Macomb County Police to instruct them on how to “process and verify the information and bring it to his office”.
According to a statement from Lucido released in August “more than 2,000 residents and 21 staff died in nursing homes, 32% of all deaths.” This figure could be even greater as the state of Michigan has continued to refuse requests for more precise data.
“If we find there’s been willful neglect of office if we find there’s been reckless endangerment of a person’s life by bringing them in then we would move forward with charges against the Governor,” Lucido said. “Of course, we would. Nobody’s above the law in this state.”
Governor Whitmer’s Office responded by scorning Lucido rather than meeting his charges with facts. The wrote, “Mr. Lucido’s comments are shameful political attacks based in neither fact nor reality. Even his former colleague, Republican Sen. Ed McBroom, has said they “have not seen any evidence or testimony that says that a nursing home was forced to take someone against their will.” And there’s a reason why Mr. Lucido’s colleagues have publicly rebuked this politically-motivated waste of taxpayer dollars. Michiganders are tired of these petty partisan games, and we won’t be distracted by them either.”

Not A Surprising Development, If These Charges Come, Whitmer Is In Trouble
This new development isn’t surprising. The sharks have begun to circle Whitmer and she is clearly running our of room to maneuver. The Michigan GOP is calling for a special prosecutor related to the Nursing Home death scandal and is also facing a new scandal surrounding exorbitant severance payments that were made to prominent state officials on her watch. Much like New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Whitmer is beset by so many scandals and moves to prosecute her that the stench of corruption coming from the Capitol in Lansing must be simply unbearable.
