Shop NowSenator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) wants to do a leadership vote next week.
With the debacle that was this year’s election, that idea is not sitting well.
With Democrats now officially holding the Senate, numerous Republican senators are pushing back.
Time to Go
There is no way, and I mean zero, that Mitch McConnell should be re-elected as the Senate leader.
His feud with Donald Trump was just as responsible for the GOP losing the Senate as were Trump’s candidates.
McConnell pulled money from some candidates late in the race, some of it to support Lisa Murkowski who was in a battle with another Republican.
When you see how the races for Oz, Masters, and Laxalt all went down to the wire, you would have to think one of those seats could have been won maybe two, flipping the Senate outright.
Trump, obviously, would love to see McConnell removed from leadership.
Senator Cruz (R-TX) is asking for a delay, stating, “It makes no sense for Senate to have leadership elections before GA runoff.
“We don’t yet know whether we’ll have a majority & Herschel Walker deserves a say in our leadership.
“Critically, we need to hear a specific plan for the next 2 yrs from any candidate for leadership.”
Senators Rubio (R-FL), Lummis (R-WY), and Hawley (R-MO) would also like to see the vote delayed.
Regardless, whenever this vote takes place, McConnell cannot be given his leadership role again.
If this Senate class rewards his inept leadership, they are dooming this party to failure again in 2024.
McConnell MUST be removed.
