Christine Romans, the long-time anchor of CNN’s “Early Start” and its chief business correspondent, has decided to leave the cable news channel after almost a quarter of a century.

She made her announcement on air during her last show, indicating that she was ready for something new.

Romans expressed her gratitude for all the years spent at CNN, calling it a family and expressing excitement for what lies ahead.

Her departure comes at an especially difficult time for CNN as ratings have been slipping, with left-wing rival MSNBC gaining viewers over the summer while CNN lost 21% of 25-to-54 viewers in May according to The Street.

In response to this slump in ratings, CNN has hired two producers from Fox News which could be seen as hypocritical due to how often hosts trash talk Fox News on air.

It appears like CNN is trying to shed its left-wing image by being more critical of Democrats and even offering support for former President Donald Trump.

At this point it’s unclear whether or not Christine Romans plans to join another network or if she will stay out of the spotlight completely.

However, one thing is certain – there are major changes coming up at CNN as they try to adjust their strategy in hopes of increasing their viewership numbers again.

While it may take some time before it becomes clear what direction these changes will take, one thing is sure: the network’s future success depends largely on how well they can adapt and compete with other networks out there in order for them to remain relevant going forward.
