She seems to have failed some basic concepts of the Constitution.
So much so, she is taking up a position that is completely the opposite of what our Founders imagined when they started this country.
Just Wrong
AOC ripped Republicans for pushing back on a proposed rule that would allow non-citizens to vote in Washington D.C.
She then claimed they were being racist because they are not fighting laws in other cities throughout the country.
Well, that would be because Congress has no say over those cities, but they do have direct oversight of D.C.
AOC said that Republicans “claim they believe in the sacred right to vote while denying that right to vote to an overwhelmingly Black city,” and accused Republicans of trying to “meddle into the business of D.C. residents.”
AOC would be wise to revisit the 14th Amendment, where the right to vote is specifically laid out to citizens of this country.
She added, “They’re singling out the residents of the District of Columbia and expanding in the history of disenfranchisement that goes all the way back to the legacy of slavery.”
Again, I don’t think she understands that the land where D.C. resides was donated by other states and done so specifically to house our government, not to have independent state rights.
For that, I would recommend that she visit Article I, section 8, clause 17, of the Constitution, which specifically outlines the role of the D.C.
Rep. Boebert (R-CO) was kind enough to point that out to her, stating, “Congress has jurisdiction over D.C., and we need to ensure a vibrant Capitol city.”
Giving people the right to vote that enter this country illegally is just idiotic, but then again, so is AOC.
