Over the last few weeks, Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has had several medical emergencies.

He froze before members of the media, raising questions if he had a stroke or seizure of some sort.

It turned out these were lingering effects of a concussion that he had suffered, but it did not quell the calls to replace him.

Not Going Anywhere

McConnell recently answered the question if he plans on stepping down in leadership or possibly even retiring.

As we all expected, he is resisting the calls for him to move on.

McConnell stated, “I’m going to finish my term as leader, and I’m going to finish my Senate term.”

Sadly, far too many members of the GOP continue to encourage this rather than move on and replace him in leadership.

For instance, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) stated, “I feel really good behind Mitch. Let’s move forward.”

I found that comment rather interesting considering how much Trump hates McConnell and the fact that Graham and Trump remain close friends.

Voters were pretty clear they wanted McConnell removed, but Senate Republicans refused to vote for anyone else.

Not only that, Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), who ran against McConnell for leadership, was pretty much ostracized by other Republicans.

Make no mistake about it… these people no longer represent the voters.

Instead, they represent self-interest and big-money donors.
