On January 6th, 2022, the day was punctuated by Democrat-Socialists’ hyperbolic and heavily dramatized accounts of the Capital Riot as the mainstream media and Democrats in Congress worked themselves into a mouth-frothing frenzy accusing Republicans and President Trump of crimes ranging from conspiracy to negligence, insurrection, and high treason. This rapidly-paced incestuous act of mutual gratification reached climax to completion with the Über-dramatisch “vigil” on the National Mall, with a corresponding event held on the steps of Congress. The stated goal of the National Mall event was to remember “the attack on democracy that occurred on Jan. 6, 2021.” But there’s a small problem with that: the woman who organized it is something of an expert in the field: she’s a radical left-wing activist who has been organizing violent assaults on the Republic since George W. Bush was inaugurated.
This woman’s name is Liz Butler and according to The Federalist is “the same Antifa-affiliated woman who planned disruptions for the inaugurations of both President George W. Bush and President Donald Trump.” All the more disturbingly, Butler is reportedly the co-founder and organizer of ShutDownDC the same group that stalked and harassed the wife and newborn child of Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) in 2020 when he objected to the results of the corrupted 2020 Election.
“Here you have a group led by an individual whose entire career has been devoted to disrupting the peaceful transition from one president to the next since 2001. And this is who they trot out to conduct a candlelight vigil for Democracy? The hypocrisy on display with this media circus surrounding January 6th is really overwhelming,”
Kyle Shideler, Director and Senior Analyst for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism at the Center for Security Policy, told The Federalist. The laundry list of activists and outright violent terrorist efforts sown by Butler is absolutely abhorrent and shameful, an utter slap in the face to everyone her group seeks to condemn and affront to the intelligence of the American people.
“We’ll meet them at the train station or the airports or if they drive into town we can meet them at their homes,” the ShutDownDC website states, noting that the group would do whatever it takes to “defend democracy and make sure Trump leaves the White House.”
And that’s just what they did.
The Violent Assault On The Hawley Residence By Butler’s ShutDownDC
Sure enough, the January 2020 ShutDownDC action against Hawley’s home was described by Mrs. Hawley in a statement illustrating the siege she found her home under. Her account is harrowing.
According to ABC,
“As depicted in the video online, as many as 20 protesters stood just feet away from the Hawleys’ front door, angrily shouting and using bullhorns as they repeatedly yelled chants such as, “Shame on you” and “Stand up, fight back.”
Phrases like “Trump lost” were written in chalk on the sidewalk, and a handful of signs were placed in front of their house.
At one point, the senator’s wife opened the front door and, while holding her baby, calmly asked the crowd to “clear out please.”
“We’ve got neighbors and a baby, thank you,” she can be heard saying in the video.
In the statement supporting her complaint, Hawley’s wife said, “I was fearful and closed and locked the door.”
“[T]he doorbell rang, and from downstairs, I could hear loud noises at the door: knocking, stomping, shouting, or some combination,” the senator’s wife wrote in her statement. “I went upstairs to see what was happening. … The protestors were screaming with bullhorns and shouting ‘Come out, come out!’ I was frightened.”
Senator Hawley was quick to weigh in on the matter, tweeting out a letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY),

Senator Hawley wrote,
“The organizers behind this event have a history of engaging in extremist tactics to interfere with workings of democracy. During a week where you have vociferously condemned those who tried to obstruct congressional proceedings last January 6th, you must also be similarly willing to call out leftist activists who have also engaged in criminal acts to interfere with democracy.”
He continued, “When it comes to political violence and criminal obstruction of government by the left, the silence by Democrats has been deafening. Democrats looked the other way when antifa rioters torched a federal courthouse in Portland. They did the same when left-wing rioters in Seattle seized power from a democratically elected government and tried to secede by creating a breakaway anarchist zone. And they did the same when hundreds unlawfully trespassed into the Senate to disrupt the nomination process of Justice Kavanaugh and then tried to breach the Supreme Court in an attempt to prevent Justice Kavanaugh from taking his oath.”
“If in fact you truly believe that attempts to interfere with democracy should be condemned, then you must break from your past silence and begin condemning those actions when they are committed by the left. It is imperative that you ask members of your caucus to shun groups like Shut Down DC and to cancel their plans to speak at their event,”
That the woman who organized some of the vilest actions of January 2020 can be permitted to lead the Democrat’s response to the Capitol Riot shows what little respect the Democratic Party has for the American people, and what little stock they place in their own supposed ‘standards’.
