Shop NowHow has USAID been defrauding America, let me count the ways, Senator Joni Ernst declared. There are several programs the U.S. Agency for International Development used to engage in “willful sabotage of congressional oversight” over recent years. They were “doling out taxpayer dollars to groups that overbilled the U.S. and possibly gave funds to terrorists.”
Ernst gives examples
Republican Senator Joni Ernst is also serving as chair of the Senate DOGE Caucus. In response to Democrat outrage over preventing fraud and abuse she went public with “a slew of examples” why “USAID is one of the worst offenders of waste in Washington.”
Conservatives are psyched with what Elon Musk and his team have been up to.
As Senator Ernst relates, USAID has been throwing taxpayer money away on really frivolous things. For instance, “$2 million in funding related to Moroccan pottery classes.”
It’s hard to see how that saves lives or benefits U.S. interests in any way. Another $2 million went to pay for “trips to Lebanon.” The hotbed for Hezbollah terror.
Americans locked down for months in COVID quarantine funded the Wuhan lab with at least a million, directly through USAID. That’s on top of the money Anthony Fauci diverted into illegal gain of function research through his own National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Ernst can’t see why anyone would object to stopping nonsense like that. Democrats are fuming anyway.

Send Big Bird to Iraq
Ernst was shocked to learn that USAID spent more than $20 million “to make a Sesame Street in Iraq.” Starving children dodging bullets could still learn their ABC’s through television. Then, there’s another “$9 million in humanitarian aid” that “ended up in the hands of violent terrorists.”
There’s a lot more money which can’t be traced to the final destination. Unconfirmed reports are floating around about supplying “personalized birth control” to the Taliban.
Along with the DOGE panel itself, headed by Elon Musk, the House has a DOGE sub-committee chaired by Marjorie Taylor Greene. In the Senate, Ernst heads up a DOGE caucus.

Trump’s administration is dedicated to eliminating “waste and abuse” in the federal government wherever they can find it. USAID was the low hanging fruit ripe for picking.
Ernst didn’t mention it in her statement but the administration has separately identified “USAID spending $2 million to fund LBTQ activism and sex changes in Guatemala.” Then, there’s “$6 million for tourism in Egypt, $32,000 on a ‘transgender comic book‘ in Peru and $2.5 million backing electric vehicles in Vietnam.”
Ernst also made Secretary of State Marco Rubio aware that she discovered “that Chemonics, a USAID contractor, overbilled the feds by ‘as much as $270 million through fiscal year 2019‘ and was caught ‘possibly offering kickbacks to terrorist groups.‘” That’s not good.
