The Biden-Harris regime made a contradictory announcement that while accurate, served only to exacerbate already strained relations with an unstable nation in the Middle-East, while turning a blind eye to China. In a statement from the White House marking Rememberence Day on April 24th Joe Biden officially referred to arrest, slaughter and forced march one and a half million innocent Armenians on April 24th 1915 by the Ottoman Empire as a genocide. The Ottomans are represented currently by their more secular successor state: the Republic of Turkey under islamist President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
While the White House’s characterization of the Armenian Genocide is completely accurate and long, long overdue from the US Government, it raises a pretty serious question: Why is the Biden-Harris regime taking such a hard-line, though accurate, stance on Turkey and seriously straining already delicate relations with the one-time ally rapidly spiraling into islamist Neo-Ottomanism, while completely ignoring the ONGOING genocide of the Uighur muslims by China?
The Whitehouse statement read,
“Beginning on April 24, 1915, with the arrest of Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Constantinople by Ottoman authorities, one and a half million Armenians were deported, massacred, or marched to their deaths in a campaign of extermination. We honor the victims of the Meds Yeghern so that the horrors of what happened are never lost to history. And we remember so that we remain ever-vigilant against the corrosive influence of hate in all its forms.”
As expected, the blowback from the Turkish Foreign ministry was near instantaneous and harsh. The Turkish Government under President Erdogan.
Spokesperson Ibrahim Kalın said in a statement, reported by the Daily Sabah,
“We strongly reject and condemn this statement, which reflects the slanders of those who are malicious and whose only agenda is hostiity(sic) to our country,”
“We call on the US President to correct this grave mistake, which serves no purpose other than to satisfy certain political circles and to support the efforts aiming to establish a practice of peaceful coexistence in the region, especially among the Turkish and Armenian nations, instead of serving the agenda of those circles that try to foment enmity from history,”
A statement from the Turkish Foreign ministry echoed the sentiment,
“It is clear that the said statement does not have a scholarly and legal basis, nor is it supported by any evidence. With regards to the events of 1915, none of the conditions required for the use of the term ‘genocide’ that is strictly defined in international law are met,”
Doubtlessly, the deliberate aggravation of the Turks combined with Biden’s violation of the Doha Accords promise to withdraw from Afghanistan will serve to escalate tensions in the region and could very well lead the United States headlong back into the forever wars.
No Word On China’s Genocide Happening TODAY
In spite of President Trump’s January declaration that the Chinese Government is engaging in a genocide against the Uighur muslims of the Xinjiang region, no action and no diplomatic efforts overt or implied have been undertaken to reign in Beijing’s oppression, systematic sterilization, imprisonment and slow, grueling destruction of the Uighur people. Like the Armenian Genocide over a century ago, the death toll has already eclipsed 1 million according to ForeignPolicy.
The Biden-Harris Regime: Selectively Blind
It would appear that destabilizing the Middle East, where tensions were gradually easing under Trump thanks to his team’s Abaraham Accords and hard stance on Iran, while starkly against American interests is in Biden’s and the Democrats’ interest. And standing against their patrons and overlords in Beijing is not. Biden seems satisfied to turn a blind eye to China, while doing nothing to force Turkey to acknowledge their nation’s greatest sin, satisfied instead with merely antagonizing them.
