We take a look into what really happened on July 14th at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and how it could be symptomatic of bigger issues for the 81-year old Kentucky Republican.
According to NBC sources, McConnell tripped while disembarking from a plane after it was canceled while passengers were still on board.
It is reported that he uses a wheelchair in airports due to having polio as a child.
NBC spoke to an anonymous senator about his health who confirmed “He’s definitely slower with his gait…He doesn’t address it”.
In March, he sustained a concussion and cracked rib from another fall.
On Wednesday there was further cause for concern when McConnell froze mid-sentence while speaking to reporters.
Senator John Barrasso stepped forward asking if he wanted to say anything else but there was no response from him leading Barrasso to suggest they take him back inside which they did after several minutes before returning for questions where he brushed off all inquiries about his health simply saying “I’m fine”.
He admitted President Joe Biden had called him later adding “I told him I got sandbagged” in reference Biden’s accident at Air Force Academy last June tripping over sandbags and falling down.
The recent events have raised serious concerns around Senator Mitch McConnell’s health potentially being symptomatic of bigger underlying issues given his age as well as previous medical history including polio among other falls this year alone leading us to wonder if this is just the tip of iceberg or will we see more incidents like these going forward.
