Shop NowWe have all traveled down that video rabbit hole from time to time.
Well, I just came across another one that had a rather interesting story attached to it.
In fact, what seemed like an innocent video had Heinz doing some serious damage control.
Just Gross
Did you know that our ketchup is made in Egypt?
Yeah, that was a new one for me as well.
That brings us to this video, which was allegedly taking place inside a Heinz factory…
When that video first surfaced, consumers were livid over the lack of sanitary conditions and apparent rotten tomatoes being used to make the condiment.
Heinz responded, “The recent story concerning our tomato factory in Egypt was completely misleading and inaccurate.
“The edited footage shows an unreal picture and neglects the processing stages, hence giving the wrong impression.
“It is important for everyone to know that we use only healthy tomatoes, all of which are processed using industry-best standards.”
The company also stated, “The video was deliberately edited to not show all the real stages of the tomato purification and sorting process in an attempt to falsify the facts, which represents intentional and deliberate harm to the company’s reputation that is contrary to the facts.”
Consumers, however, were not buying it, wanting more answers about the production of their favorite condiment.
When a Heinz employee was allegedly arrested after an investigation took place, Heinz insisted it has “strict quality standards” that are always followed.
The company stated, “We are committed to strictly applying these standards across all our factories worldwide, including Egypt.”
Looks like Hunt’s could become the new king of ketchup!
