In a jaw-dropping reversal of policy (which is what SHOULD happen when presented with overwhelming evidence) officials in California are planning to spend billions thinning out tens of millions of acres of forests. The logic they apply is an old and trusted one: that doing this will limit the amount of fuel available for forest fires, during hot, dry summers preventing small fires from becoming apocalyptic blazes visible from space. President Trump has been vindicated… Again.
Not Such a ‘New Plan’
Only after the Golden State bureaucrats revealed this “new” plan was it pointed out to them that President Donald J. Trump (and countless thousands of vindicated conservatives around the country) made this EXACT SAME SUGGESTION. But of course, they wouldn’t listen because ‘orange-man bad’ and the increase in fires fed beautifully into their climate-change narrative.
The Sacramento Bee reported in September of 2020,
“President Donald Trump, arriving in Sacramento for a briefing on Western wildfires, continued to downplay the role of climate change in California’s horrific fire season, claimed the earth will soon begin cooling — and told California and other states to solve the problem by managing their forests more wisely.”
“With wildfires raging in California, Oregon and Washington, the president said “there has to be good, strong forest management” and he’s been telling states for three years to embrace that.”
“Hopefully they’ll start doing that,” he said.
Of course, the Bee decided to scoff at President Trump’s comments and frame them as ‘climate denial’ alongside the rest of the mainstream media.
Only A British Media Outlet would Admit Trump Was Vindicated
At least the British media had the gall to call this obvious story straight when The Daily Mail wrote,
“California is adopting former (President) Donald Trump‘s plan to thin out the state’s 33 million acres of forests with controlled burns and raking the woodland floor – after state officials essentially laughed off the former president’s idea a few years ago.”
Trump had famously said as much at a 2020 Rally in Pennsylvania,
‘I see again the forest fires are starting, They’re starting again in California. I said, you gotta clean your floors, you gotta clean your forests — there are many, many years of leaves and broken trees and they’re like, like, so flammable, you touch them and it goes up (in flames).’
‘Maybe we’re just going to have to make them pay for it because they don’t listen to us,’ he added

The Blaze clarified that Trump’s suggestion was “a common forest conservation measure”. However, the media ” worked overtime to spin the suggestion … as prompting “head-scratching from experts” and as evidence, Trump did not “understand the science of wildfires” and was “politicizing natural disasters.”
In reality: President Trump made a common-sense recommendation that would truly remediate the fire problem, it was the leftists in Congress and those running the State of California who were each too busy repurposing the disaster to support the climate-change narrative to be bothered actually trying to fix the issue of frequent wildfires. There’s a word for that: projection.
