Steve Bannon will be behind bars in two weeks or less, and he has Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garland to thank for it.
Bannon was convicted on contempt of Congress and sentenced to four months behind bars.
However, his sentence was ordered to be delayed until the appeals process played out, but that whole situation was turned on its head.
Going to Jail
Recently, the judge that had stayed the sentence reversed his order and ordered Bannon to report to a low-security prison in Connecticut by July 1.
Bannon filed an emergency appeal, citing his appeals and the fac that if he was sent to jail now, he would be unable to fulfill his role as a campaign advisor for Trump.
So, it was no surprise to Merrick Garland and the DOJ jump in to fight the appeal, arguing, “Because Bannon cannot justify what would be an extraordinary exception to the general rule of detention following conviction and an unsuccessful appeal, his motion should be denied.”
Bannon’s attorneys countered, stating, “This would also effectively bar Mr. Bannon from serving as a meaningful advisor in the ongoing national campaign.”
The appellate court ruled against Bannon, so now he has less than two weeks of freedom to begin serving his sentence.
Rumors had it that Bannon was hoping for Club Fed, a minimum-security prison, but he is not eligible for that because he has yet another legal matter before the court for his alleged roll in “We Build the Wall” scam that defrauded donors.
So, Peter Navarro is now in jail, Bannon will soon be in jail, and Donald Trump learns his fate from Judge Merchan just four days before the Republican National Convention.
Does that qualify as election interference or is this truly justice?
