McCarthy Makes Promise to the American People

Impeachment might be exactly what Merrick Garland needs, Kevin McCarthy agrees. The political bias and weaponization of the Just Us Department is on full display. Hunter Biden got a free pass on serious crimes affecting national security and election integrity while Donald Trump gets persecuted with manufactured nonsense which threatens 400 years or so in jail. Garland is the one in charge of all that. For now.

Garland impeachment looms

Impeachment is looming on the horizon for Merrick Garland. The alleged Attorney General is being investigated by Congress for political bias and “weaponization” of the DOJ. A couple of IRS whistleblowers came forward with claims which the Ways and Means Committee exposed last week.

McCarthy isn’t jumping the gun but the image in his crystal ball keeps getting sharper with each bombshell revelation.

We need to get to the facts, and that includes reconciling these clear disparities.” Someone is lying, either the seasoned IRS agents, one a supervisor, who were trying to do their job and bring serious charges, or Merrick Garland.

It has to be one or the other and if it’s Garland, impeachment is in his future. Immediately. Also, McCarthy notes, “U.S. Attorney David Weiss must provide answers to the House Judiciary Committee.

If the whistleblowers’ allegations are true,” McCarthy tweeted, “this will be a significant part of a larger impeachment inquiry into Merrick Garland’s weaponization of DOJ.” Joe Biden will be looking at that, too.

The paperwork for Alejandro Mayorkas is already working its way around the capitol. The Hill seems a little nervous that the Speaker of the House is taking such an interest.

A notable departure

This is something different for McCarthy, the left-leaning Hill points out. The speaker “expressing interest in impeaching Garland is a notable departure from how he has handled calls from Republicans to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and President Biden.” He dragged his feet on those.

McCarthy has previously vowed any impeachment proceedings would not be political, and said he would allow committees to investigate before moving toward impeachment.” In this case, the committees have been investigating and the stakes just got a whole lot higher because of what they found out.

For instance, Gary Shapley, the IRS supervisor who took his story to the Ways and Means committee, and one of the members of his investigation team, “alleged that prosecutors slow-walked the case against Hunter Biden.” They claim that Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss told them that he doesn’t have the authority to press the charges he wanted to press. He also asked Garland to make him a special prosecutor and was told no.

That’s not what either Weiss or Garland told Congress. The sooner they start impeachment against Garland, the sooner Congress can get to the bottom of what happened with Weiss. They can’t do that with Garland running interference.

Weiss already signed off on a deal forgiving Hunter Biden of everything from bribery to child molestation with less than a slap on the wrist. He gets to plead guilty on a pair of misdemeanors, get a couple years probation and complete a drug diversion program. Anyone else would be in jail for life, at least, for what he’s allegedly done.

All America wants to see is a reasonably fair system of justice and this clearly isn’t fair or just. Since Garland won’t prosecute himself, the only option is impeachment. It’s coming for him like a steamroller. Garland still thinks he’s right. “I really run this country,” he responds. “Everything the FBI, IRS or DOJ do is totally legal, always.
