Kamala Harris flubbed yet another interview.
With the election looming and the VP position largely considered election bait for a demographic the presidential candidate can normally not secure, Harris was asked about her being added to the ticket because she was a black woman.
Harris was obviously perturbed by the question, but she also came off as utterly confused by it.
I Don’t Understand
When Joe Biden ran, he was pretty adamant that he was going to have a woman on his ticket.
Many powerful Democrats supporting Biden, however, wanted a black woman added to the ticket.
Harris recently sat down with the New York Times’ Astead Herndon for an interview, and it did not go as planned for either party.
Herndon asked, “He came to the decision that he needed to choose a Black woman.
“While that is obviously about you, it’s not necessarily you personally, but your identity.
“How should it matter, does it matter that that narrative has existed, that Biden needed to choose someone who was a Black person, and should it matter?”
Harris said she did not understand the question, so Herndon asked again, “Does it matter that, that kind of narrative around Biden needed to choose a Black woman as a running mate still exists, and has hovered over that selection?”
Harris started her annoying cackling, then responded, “It happened. I don’t think, I honestly don’t understand your question. Has it lingered?
“He chose a Black woman, that woman is me, so I don’t know that anything lingers about what he should choose. He has chosen, he asked me to join him on the ticket.”
Clearly, she was not getting the gist of the question, so Herndon moved in.
Harris’ supporters were not thrilled by the line of questioning, with Senator Laphonza Butler (D-CA), the Maryland resident who was chosen as the California Senator by Governor Newsom, who also happens to be a former adviser for Harris, stated, “It’s disrespectful.
“And the thing that makes it more disrespectful is that we’re talking about a historic VP who has been a high-quality partner and asset to the country at a time when everything is at stake.
“Right now is the time to respect what she’s done and what she brings.”
I would love for Butler to list those achievements because Harris has been an absolute disaster as VP, which is pretty hard to do, and has lower approval ratings than Joe Biden.
